National AWWA VP Craig Woolard to open Annual Fall Conference
Craig Woolard will be the National AWWA representative at the Section's fall conference, November 7-8, in Kearney.
Craig Woolard joined AWWA in 1995 because of the quality of its technical products and services, but became active because of the personal relationships he developed.
Craig is Alaska’s representative on the AWWA Board and serves on the Young Professionals Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee on Professional Certification. He’s the Board representative to the International Council, and is one of three people running for National AWWA President in 2008.
Craig has chaired the Alaska Section’s Research and Development Committee and Annual Conference and has been South Central Alaska Subsection vice-president, president, and past president.
He has served as president of the Alaska Water Wastewater Management Association and belongs to the American Society of Civil Engineers, Water Environment Federation, and American Society of Engineering Education. Craig received the AWWA Fuller Award in 2003.
Craig has more than 12 years of consulting experience related to water and wastewater treatment services for Alaskan communities. Until recently, he was professor and chair of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, where he specialized in research grants related to water, wastewater, and hazardous waste treatment. Craig is now the Treatment Division Director of the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility.
He earned a BS and a PhD in civil engineering. He then did postdoctoral research at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, at the Institute for Water Quality and Waste Management. He also is a registered professional engineer.
Craig and his wife, Lisa, live in Anchorage, AK.
