My AWWA Story: Craig Reinsch
I have the privilege of being the Chair for the Nebraska Section AWWA's 75th anniversary in 2022. My AWWA story started as a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL). I was invited to join the student section and served as the secretary. I applied for and was awarded one of the Colonel Theodore Liesen scholarships in 2004.
Since then, I served as the chair of the Water for People, Young Professionals, and Scholarship committees before being invited to serve on the Board. It was fantastic to participate in the scholarship committee after having been a scholarship recipient.
Like many of you, I was introduced to the Section by others, both at UNL by Dr. Bruce Dvorak and at Olsson by John S. Olsson and Rod Kirkland, and then encouraged to continue participating. I am especially glad to have participated in the Water for People committee early in my career, including starting the shotgun event in 2008, which has continued to the present day. In fact, there are still members of the section and conference attendees who are waiting for me to try and sell them raffle tickets!
These events and experiences have helped to develop me as a better engineer and servant leader throughout these nearly 20 years of service to the Section. I look forward to introducing others to the Section, in a manner similar to those who provided that opportunity to me.
