Remarks on Drinking Water Week Proclamation
Thank you, Governor Pillen, for this opportunity to share the importance of safe, clean, and reliable drinking water with our fellow Nebraska citizens. My name is John Keith and I am the Chair-Elect for the Nebraska Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). "For more than 40 years the American Water Works Association and its members, including the Nebraska Section, have used Drinking Water Week as a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives." This year, Drinking Water Week will be celebrated from May 7-13, 2023. Having water there when you need it accurately reflects both the "reliability of drinking water and the professionals associated with delivering water from collection to consumption". We cannot live without it. Our quality of life is and has been greatly enhanced and protected by access to safe, clean, and reliable drinking water. At this time, we would like to honor those individuals who, through their tireless dedication and service, assure them daily that this precious resource is preserved and available to us when we need it most. Please join us in thanking these heroes in our communities, some of whom are here today, and throughout the great State of Nebraska for their efforts and service. Thank you.
